There have been a lot of posts reflecting on the five-year anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic. Has your life shifted, have some patterns stuck? For many, the pandemic magnified the invisible load with some studies showing 40% of women bore the brunt of housework, caregiving, and home schooling. But have these imbalances changed, or are they still weighing you down?

Can you now regain balance and make the #visibleload appear more in focus. Here are some practical steps you may be able to try:

✨Rethink How You Ask for Help: Instead of “What do you want to eat?”, try “What will you cook this week?” Shifting the conversation and reframing the words you use can redistribute tasks and encourage other to take ownership.

✨Share Household Jobs: Rather than taking on everything yourself, ask, “These need doing— which ones do you want to do?” Offering choice invites others to contribute.

✨Get Kids Involved: Assign age-appropriate chores to teach responsibility and ease your load. Starting young turns helping out into a norm, not a battle as they grown older – or at least that is the hope! 🤞

✨Reassess Your Routine: The pandemic led to extra cleaning and organising, but does it all still need doing? Identify what truly matters and let go of unnecessary tasks.

✨Communicate Openly: If you silently shoulder responsibilities, they’ll remain invisible. Have honest conversations with those who share your space to create the change you need.

Life may never follow a perfect plan, but with flexibility and collaboration, balance is achievable. Remember, making responsibilities visible is the first step to lightening the load.
